The Government’s Cities and Local Growth Unit commissioned What Works Growth to run a series of free workshops open to local and combined authorities and LEPs focusing on new priorities that arose from the pandemic. The aim of each of these workshops was to support local institutions to address these new priorities and drive economic recovery.

This session covered evidence and guidance on local policies to address challenges on high streets. There were contributions from the following speakers followed by an opportunity for participants to discuss with speakers.

  • Professor Henry Overman, Director of the What Works Centre for Local Economic Growth
  • Valentine Quinio, Centre for Cities
  • Carina Schnieder, Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government
