The Growth Vouchers Programme offered subsidised business support for thousands of businesses across the UK. But how effective was it in changing the performance for participating businesses? What impact might it have had on local economies?

Gonzalo Nunez-Chaim and Henry Overman discuss the impact on businesses, lessons learnt about how the programme was run, and why the evaluation is so important. This short session builds on a recent paper on the randomised control trial. For an overview, see our recent blog.

This session is useful for local and national policymakers considering business advice programmes as well as evaluation specialists.

These Lunch and Learn 45-minute sessions introduce the evidence on an economic development policy and highlight the key issues to consider, and will include plenty of time for you to ask questions about how best to apply this in your local area.

This is the first of four ‘Lunch and Learn’ sessions taking place across the Spring – feel free to attend them all, or pick and choose; each is a standalone session on one topic.
