To achieve this, we support central policy makers and analysts working on local growth to use evidence effectively and deliver high-quality impact evaluation.
Our offer includes bespoke evaluation support and evidence briefings, training and roundtables, and a library of evidence summaries and evaluation materials. All our support is free.
Support for national impact evaluations
We provide responsive support for officials working on impact evaluations of local growth policy. For example, we provided technical advice on the Towns Fund evaluation to officials at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (now Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government).
Bespoke evidence briefings
We write bespoke evidence briefings to pull together reliable evidence on a limited timescale, in response to specific queries from officials. They are designed to inform current policy development and answer pressing policy questions, using data, economic evidence and theory, and impact evaluations findings. Training and roundtables
As well as our regular workshops, we deliver tailored training on impact evaluation and use of evidence. We also host informal roundtables in which officials can talk to us in detail about evaluation or evidence issues. For example, we hosted a roundtable on spatial data and spatial inequalities for a team working on the Levelling Up White Paper.
