We help to make local growth policy more cost-effective, through better use of evidence and evaluation.
To achieve this, we support central policy makers and analysts working on local growth to use evidence effectively and deliver high-quality evaluation.
Our offer includes bespoke evaluation support and evidence briefings, training and roundtables, and a library of evidence summaries and evaluation materials. All our support is free.
Support for national evaluations
We provide responsive support for officials working on impact evaluations of local growth policy. This is delivered through our in-house researchers or our expert Evaluation Panel. For example, we provided technical advice on the Towns Fund evaluation to officials at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.
Bespoke evidence briefings
Our evidence briefings pull together reliable evidence on a limited timescale, in response to specific queries from officials. They are designed to inform current policy development, and answer pressing policy questions, using data, economic evidence and theory, and impact evaluations findings. Select the ‘Evidence briefing’ filter in our resource library to access our evidence briefings.
Training and roundtables
As well as our regular courses, we deliver tailored training on impact evaluation and use of evidence. We also host informal roundtables in which officials can talk to us in detail about evaluation or evidence issues. For example, we hosted a roundtable on spatial data and spatial inequalities for a team working on the Levelling Up White Paper.
Our online library contains a wide range of evidence summaries and evaluation materials designed to support local growth policy makers and analysts.
