Melanie Gross is a Research Assistant at the What Works Centre for Local Economic Growth. Her main interest lies in the production and use of evidence to improve policymaking. Melanie is currently pursuing a Master of Public Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and has a BSc in Economics and an MSc in Economics from the University Torcuato Di Tella (Argentina).
Prior to joining What Works Growth, Melanie worked as a Consultant at the Inter-American Development Bank and the World Bank. In these roles, she studied key bottlenecks to poverty reduction in Sub-Saharan African countries, analysed regional trends in human capital accumulation, and designed evidence-based improvements to fiscal and social policies in Latin American countries. Melanie also has experience working in think tanks and evaluating policies at the local level, including working at the Center for Studies in Human Development and the Center for the Implementation of Public Policies for Equity and Growth.
