Understanding the sectoral makeup of a local area is an important part of developing skills strategies and broader economic development strategies. With Local Growth Plans reflecting Government’s Industrial Strategy 8 key sectors, understanding the sectors in a local area and the current and future skills needs of employers’ is more important than ever. However, understanding the data around skills can be difficult.
Join us for an overview of sectoral skills in your local area from our Deputy Director of Evidence Victoria Sutherland, after which we’ll have an opportunity to ask questions.
These short one-hour sessions complement our new ‘how to’ guide, Understanding local economic performance: Skills, to be published soon. These sessions are aimed at policymakers who want to make good use of evidence but are pressed for time and may not have support from data analysts.
