arrow down

You provide the questions and What Works Growth will answer them in this new hour-long session from What Works Growth.

Exclusive for those working in local government, a one-hour afternoon session from What Works Growth, where you provide the questions and we will answer them. Questions can be anything on topics covered in our new ‘how-to’ guides: investment, skills, innovation (forthcoming), productivity, and income.

Submit questions when registering, and we’ll cover as many as we can in an hour.

Don’t have a question? Join anyway, as we’re bound to cover topics that are of interest to you as we go through other questions from local authorities (LAs) and mayoral strategic authorities (MSAs) across the country.

FAQ

What’s a suitable question?

You can pose a question about any of our topics covered in our new how-to guides — investment, skills, innovation, productivity and income.

If you want us to review specific context or data in a particular LA or MSA, make sure you include details.

Some examples are:

  • We’re a semi-rural district authority near to a large metropolitan area. What can I learn from available data on wages and income?
  • We want to refresh our skills strategy but wonder if we should take a more sector-based approach. How could we use data to help us think through different options?
  • How do we figure out what the main barrier to productivity growth might be in our MSA area?

We may need to narrow your question down if it’s too broad or too complex. We’ll try to get in touch with you beforehand to clarify so our answer most helpful for you.

Who should attend?

  • People working in local government (local authorities, mayoral strategic authorities, devolution priority programme place teams) who have questions about how to use data to better understand the performance of their local economy.
  • This session is not open to individuals from central government, consultancies or other organisations.

Do I need to submit a question?

  • No – you’re welcome to join anyway! We will also encourage follow-up questions to make sure that people feel their questions have been answered.

What if you don’t get to my question?

  • We’re hoping to run more sessions. We’ll be asking for feedback on whether this was a useful format.
  • We’ll also post questions and answers to Khub.

What happens once I’ve signed up?

  • You will receive a link to join the workshop three days in advance and will be sent a calendar invite for the Teams meeting.
  • If you’re worried you haven’t received these emails or have any other questions, please contact m.streb@whatworksgrowth.org
