The Government’s Cities and Local Growth Unit commissioned What Works Growth to run a series of workshops open to local and combined authorities and LEPs. The aim of each of these workshops was to support local institutions to address these new priorities that have arisen as a result of the pandemic and to drive economic recovery.

This session covered the evidence on what works to minimise the effects of unemployment on young people. There were contributions from the following speakers followed by an opportunity for participants to discuss the issues with the speakers:

  • Professor Henry Overman, Director of the What Works Centre for Local Economic Growth
  • Naomi Clayton, Learning and Work Institute
