A short 45 minute session on making the most of available public investment data. A basic overview for economic growth officers in LAs and MCAs.
Investment in public capital – such as roads, rail, ports, energy grids, and broadband – can have powerful and lasting effects on productivity by reducing costs and time for businesses and improving efficiency, access to markets, and connectivity. It can also help crowd in private investment into an area. This session will provide an introduction to public investment for local policymakers, covering key concepts, what data is available, and things to be aware of when analysing your local area’s data.
Join us for an overview from our Deputy Director of Evidence Victoria Sutherland, after which you’ll have an opportunity to ask questions.
This short 45-minute session will complement our new ‘how to’ guide, Understanding local economic performance: investment to be published soon. These sessions are aimed at policymakers who want to make good use of evidence but are pressed for time and may not have support from data analysts.
