We held a series of three standalone Lunch and Learn sessions across Autumn 2022.

These sessions were aimed at local development teams who want to make good use of evidence but are pressed for time. Each 45-minute session introduced the evidence on an economic development policy and highlighted the key issues to consider. Our Lunch and Learn sessions also includes time for questions on how best to apply the learnings and evidence in your local area.

Tuesday 18 October: Local green investment

The first session of our Autumn series focused on local green investment – looking at what the evidence tells us about the impact of active travel, energy efficiency and natural capital investments on local economic growth and other outcomes.

Tuesday 1 November: Investment zones

The second session of our Autumn series focused on investment zones, drawing on the evidence on enterprise zones and other area-based initiatives.

Tuesday 15 November: Public procurement

The third and final session of our Autumn series focused on public procurement and an upcoming publication on the topic.

A recap of our Lunch and Learn spring series:

Between March and May of 2022, What Works Growth launched a five-part series of short 45-minute Lunch and Learn sessions.

These sessions introduced the evidence on an economic development policy, highlighting the key issues to consider, and included plenty of time for participants to ask questions about how best to apply this in their local area.

The new format of the course was aimed at local economic development teams who were pressed for time and broadly covered:

  • Transport
  • Employment training
  • Business support
  • Innovation
  • Apprenticeships

Keep an eye out on this page for updates regarding future Lunch and Learn sessions.
